Abstract: This study explores the impact of adult education on family literacy, focusing on how educational programs for adults influence literacy practices within their families. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in improving family literacy, to identify the key factors that contribute to successful literacy outcomes, and to evaluate the challenges faced by adult learners in balancing family responsibilities and education. A survey research design was utilized to gather data from participants involved in family literacy programs, providing comprehensive insights into their experiences. A sample size of 300 adult learners was selected for robust analysis. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals actively participating in family literacy initiatives. The case study was conducted in Enugu, Nigeria, where family literacy programs are increasingly prioritized. Findings indicated that adult education significantly enhanced family literacy by improving parents' reading and writing skills, which in turn positively influenced their children's literacy development. However, challenges such as time constraints and lack of support were identified. The study recommended expanding family literacy programs and providing support mechanisms to help adult learners balance their educational and family responsibilities.
